Imhotep Charter opened its season Saturday night with a statement, defeating Camden 29–8 behind an impressive defensive performance and a second-half offensive surge.

The Panthers got contributions throughout the lineup, but the story of the night was their defense — particularly the duo of Tristan Alexander and Kasim Green, who consistently created problems in the Camden backfield.

Panthers Find Their Rhythm

Junior wide receiver Brian Culmer (#4) helped get Imhotep on the board with a 20-yard touchdown reception, giving the Panthers their first touchdown of the season.

Culmer also came up with several chunk plays throughout the night and contributed on the defensive side of the football.

After halftime, Imhotep began to take control.

Junior running back Kassan Chappelle (#8) came out of the break running with authority and broke through for a rushing touchdown that gave Imhotep a 15–8 advantage.

Sophomore wide receiver Andrew Moye (#16) also made several important receptions for the Panthers. Moye showed toughness throughout the night, absorbing contact while continuing to secure the football in key situations.

Then came one of the biggest offensive plays of the game.

Junior running back Yazid McCorkle (#7) broke multiple tackles on an incredible 35-yard touchdown run, extending Imhotep's lead to 22–8.

Drayton Comes Up Huge

Senior cornerback Malik Drayton (#12) was another major difference-maker.

Drayton recorded two interceptions, including one in the first quarter near Imhotep's own goal line that he returned all the way into Camden territory. His second interception came during another Camden drive in the third quarter and helped prevent Camden from building any momentum offensively.

It was a huge night for the senior defensive back.

PA East Co-Players of the Game

Tristan Alexander — SO | DE | #11

Alexander was an absolute force.

The sophomore defensive end finished with three sacks along with numerous tackles for loss and consistently created pressure in the Camden backfield.

His energy stood out from beginning to end, whether he was making a play himself or celebrating one of his teammates.

Alexander showed Saturday night why he is a name Eastern Pennsylvania football fans should start remembering.

Kasim Green — SR | DT | #51

Green was just as disruptive on the interior.

The senior defensive tackle consistently beat Camden's offensive line and seemed to find his way into the backfield throughout the night.

Green recorded numerous tackles for loss and showed an impressive combination of quickness, physicality and explosiveness off the ball.

Put Alexander and Green together, and Imhotep has the makings of a seriously dangerous defensive-line duo.
