Central York junior wide receiver DeMarcus Murray is putting together one of the most explosive starts to a season in Pennsylvania high school football.
Through the Panthers’ first four games of the 2026 season, Murray has already hauled in 12 receiving touchdowns, putting him on a pace that has him chasing Pennsylvania history.
The current Pennsylvania single-season record for touchdown receptions is 28, set by Danville’s Aaron Johnson in 2023. Murray enters Week 5 needing 16 touchdowns to tie the record and 17 to break it.
Murray’s production has been remarkably consistent through the opening month. He recorded 2 touchdowns in Week 1, exploded for 5 in Week 2, added 2 more in Week 3 and caught another 3 in Week 4. That works out to an average of 3 receiving touchdowns per game.
At that pace, Murray would reach 30 receiving touchdowns over a 10-game regular season—two beyond the current state record before any potential postseason games.
There is still plenty of football left, and maintaining that pace over an entire season is a major challenge. But after four weeks, Murray has put himself in position to make the Pennsylvania single-season receiving touchdown record a storyline worth watching.
